LA PAZ, BOLIVIA, October 15 (RIA Novosti) - Incumbent Bolivian President Evo Morales has thanked his supporters and called the results of exit polls, according to which he is winning as the president, a victory of anti-imperialists and anti-colonialists.

"Thank you very much for this new victory of the Bolivian people. From me personally, from all of those, who fought for Bolivia, I would like to say thank for this victory… This is a victory of anti-imperialists and anti-colonialists, this is a victory of the Bolivian people," Morales said when speaking from the balcony of the Presidential Palace.

Morales also said that he would like to dedicate this victory to all peoples that are fighting against imperialism, as well as Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez.

Thousands of the supporters of Morales have begun celebrations across the country ahead of the announcement of the official results of the elections.

Earlier in the day, exit polls data showed that 61 percent of voters were in favor of Morales. His main rivals, National Unity Front leader Samuel Doria Medina and former Bolivian president Jorge Quiroga, gained 24 percent and nine percent of votes respectively.

On October 12, some 6.2 million Bolivians took to polling stations to elect a new president, a vice president, 130 members to the Chamber of Deputies and 36 senators.

Bolivia's socialist leader Morales was largely anticipated to win the third term as the president, extending his time in office until January 2020.

Some 200 international observers were expected to come to Bolivia on Sunday to monitor the general election. Morales emphasized that the presence of monitors at the elections was crucial for their transparency, and urged all volunteers to be active in fulfilling their duties.
