LA PAZ, BOLIVIA, October 13 (RIA Novosti) – Incumbent Bolivian President Evo Morales is leading in the general election, according to exit polls data.

The results of the polls at polling stations show that 61 percent of voters are in favor of Morales. His main rivals, National Unity Front leader Samuel Doria Medina and former Bolivian president Jorge Quiroga, are supported by 24 percent and nine percent of votes respectively.

On October 12, some 6.2 million Bolivians were expected to take to polling stations to elect a new president, a vice president, 130 members to the Chamber of Deputies and 36 senators.

Bolivia's socialist leader Morales was largely expected to win the third term as the Latin American nation's next president, extending his time in office until January 2020.

Some 200 international observers were expected to come to Bolivia on Sunday to monitor the general election. Morales emphasized that the presence of monitors at the elections was crucial for their transparency, and urged all volunteers to be active in fulfilling their duties.
