The government of Ecuador has announced that a second batch of humanitarian aid was brought Thursday to the devastated Gaza Strip.

MEXICO CITY, October 10 (RIA Novosti) – The government of Ecuador has announced that a second batch of humanitarian aid was brought Thursday to the devastated Gaza Strip.

The cargo had to clear customs checks in the Egyptian capital of Cairo before it was allowed into the Gaza war zone, the Ecuador Foreign Ministry said.

In July Ecuador authorities launched a campaign, called “We are all Palestine,” to gather donations, including tents, mattresses, nonperishable food, clothing and medicine for the people of Gaza. A total of 48 tons was collected.

The Israeli military operation Protective Edge in the Gaza Strip killed nearly 2,200 people over 50 days in July and August, and destroyed much of the infrastructure in the Palestinian exclave that has been striving to cope with the aftermath of Israel’s crippling eight-year blockade.
