KIEV, October 5 (RIA Novosti) - Humanitarian convoy from Germany will arrive at the Polish-Ukrainian border early morning on October 7, the press service representative of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Vladimir Polevoy said Sunday.

“The cargo should be at the Poland-Ukraine border in the morning on October 7,” Polevoy said at press briefing.

On the initiative of German Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development Gerd Muller, the government has sent to Ukraine about 100 trucks carrying humanitarian aid from 17 German cities. The convoy is carrying building materials, space heaters, blankets and rollaway beds, the Spiegel reported on Saturday.

According to the Spiegel, after the convoy arrives at the border, the goods will then be loaded into the Ukrainian vehicles, which will take them to five zones of eastern Ukraine.

On Friday, it was reported that Germany may send 200 soldiers to Ukraine to monitor compliance with the ceasefire agreement in the east.

However, Polevoy said he has no information regarding the arrival of soldiers from Germany.

“I do not know anything about these soldiers,” Polevoy said.

In April, Kiev forces started military operation against independence supporters in eastern Ukraine, which claimed lives of over 3,600 people and left 8,500 injured. On September 5, a ceasefire agreement has been reached at a Contact Group meeting in Minsk, followed by the adoption of a memorandum on September 19 that outlined specific steps for the ceasefire implementation.

The opposing sides have repeatedly accused one another of violating the truce, although the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) said the ceasefire was generally holding.

Due to the conflict, Ukraine's southeastern regions witnessed severe humanitarian catastrophe, as many citizens struggled without clean water, electricity and other essentials.
