KIEV, October 4 (RIA Novosti) – The trilateral mission of observers from the Organization for Security and Co-operation (OSCE), Russia and Ukraine has launched the demarcation of the buffer zone between the Kiev government forces and independence supporters of southeastern Ukraine, a spokesperson for Ukrainian government's special operation in Mariupol Dmitry Gorbunov told RIA Novosti Saturday.

"We are not in command of them [the mission]. I can only say that the process [of the buffer zone demarcation], which will continue in this week, has begun," the official said.

He added that the routes of the mission's movement are classified, however, noting that the observers would use white vehicles with the "NM" [Independent Observation Mission of the General Coordination Center] logo.

The Ukrainian official also revealed that the independent mission would be working during a week.

On September 5, representatives for the Ukrainian government and pro-independence forces of eastern Ukraine reached a ceasefire agreement during a Contact Group on Ukraine talks in Minsk. According to the OSCE, the armistice has still been mostly holding.

Establishment of a 18-mile buffer zone in the conflict area is one of the clauses of a ceasefire memorandum, formulated at the September 19 meeting of the group.
