Hong Kong Chief Executive CY Leung called on Tuesday for protesters to disband immediately as crowds continued to occupy major parts of the city.

MOSCOW, September 30 (RIA Novosti) - Hong Kong Chief Executive CY Leung called on Tuesday for protesters to disband immediately as crowds continued to occupy major parts of the city.

Occupy Central initiators, who repeatedly promised to end the protests if the campaign got out of control, must now "fulfil their earlier promises and stop the movement immediately," the Hong Kong leader said, addressing the media Tuesday morning.

Thousands of people have gathered on the streets of Hong Kong to take part in the Occupy Central with Love and Peace protests that began on September 26. The demonstrators are protesting against Chinese government plans to control the 2017 election in Hong Kong.
