SANA'A, September 28 (RIA Novosti) - Ten Houthis have been killed and dozens were injured in a suicide attack in Yemen's Ma'rib governorate, a local source informed.
"A suicide bomber, supposedly from al-Qaeda, blew up a Land Cruiser. This attack was aimed at a gathering of Houthis near a hospital in the Majzar district, east of Sana'a, which they seized a few days earlier," a representative of one of the Yemeni tribes told RIA Novosti, asking to remain anonymous.
"The number of victims may rise because some have been badly wounded," the source said. "Houthis have already removed their dead from the explosion site and sent armed reinforcements."
The source added that hundreds of armed "Muslim Brothers" from the Al-Islah party earlier arrived in Ma'rib to discuss the situation in the Majzar province, and decided to regain control of the regions that have been seized by the Houthis in the past weeks.
The Houthis are a Shiite insurgent group operating in Yemen. Thousands of Houthi followers have in recent weeks staged rallies in Sana'a, demanding the government to step down and fuel subsidies to be reinstated.
