MOSCOW, September 26 (RIA Novosti) - The death toll from violence in China's far western Xinjiang Region has increased to 50 from two, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing news website Tianshan Net.

Forty rioters, six civilians and four policemen were killed in a suicide bomb explosion or shot by police in China's Xinjiang Region, Bloomberg reported.

On September 21, suicide bombs exploded at several places: the farmer's market, two police stations and a shop. Besides the 50 people who were killed, another 54 were injured.

Some media have reported that the death toll announced by Chinese authorities was very low and inconsistent with reality.

Police have blamed the outbreak of violence on Uighur separatists.

The Xinjiang conflict is a separatist struggle in China's far western province. The separatists claim that the region should be referred to as East Turkestan and should not be considered a part of China. They claim that China occupied the region in 1949. Xinjiang has witnessed several outbreaks of wars and conflicts throughout its history.
