DONETSK, September 9 (RIA Novosti) - Authorities of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) in eastern Ukraine should be guided by principles of peaceful settlement of conflicts, non-use of force in talks with other countries and international organizations, the DPR parliament said Tuesday.

“All DPR governing bodies and officials should carry out consultations and negotiations on the principles of sovereign equality of states and peaceful resolution of international conflicts in order to avoid potential threats to global peace, security and justice,” a resolution by DPR Supreme Council said.

The resolution was adopted following a report by DPR Prime Minister Alexander Zakharchenko on the results of a Minsk meeting last Friday involving representatives from Kiev, the Ukrainian self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk republics, Russia and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in an attempt to find a solution to the Ukrainian crisis.

As a result of the meeting, Kiev and independence supporters agreed to a ceasefire that came into force on the same day. The sides also agreed to the international monitoring of the truce’s implementation, the exchange of all prisoners and the opening of humanitarian corridors.

Since mid-April, Kiev has been carrying out a military operation against the independence supporters in the country’s southeastern regions. According to the United Nations, the armed conflict has killed over 2,500 and injured around 6,000 civilians.
