Russia’s draft resolution project on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine is still in the works, but the process of negotiating with the member of the UN Security Council has bogged down, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

MOSCOW, September 6 (RIA Novosti) - Russia’s draft resolution project on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine is still in the works, but the process of negotiating with the member of the UN Security Council has bogged down, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“Unfortunately, our Western partners did not support the idea. They tried to add some counterproductive clauses to the presented project. Our task was to point international community’s efforts at ending bloodshed and launching a political dialogue between the sides,” Gatilov said.

Russia submitted to the UN Security Council a draft resolution on humanitarian situation in Ukraine, but the document was blocked.

According to Gatilov, the amendments made to the draft resolution by the Western members of the Security Council were unacceptable.

“Given a manner that our partners tried to handle the matter, we believe that cooperation with them is impossible at this stage. It is absolutely clear that their main goal was to accuse Russia of all sins. That is why the project is still on the table and no concrete steps have been taken to finally agree on it. But this does not mean we will not resume our efforts. But so far the process is bogged down,” Gatilov told RIA Novosti.
