MOSCOW, August 24 (RIA Novosti) - Washington has congratulated Kiev on the 23rd anniversary of Ukraine’s independence, with US President Barack Obama and US Secretary of State John Kerry vowing support.
“Since your independence, and especially over the past tumultuous year, the people of the United States have stood proudly with the people of Ukraine as you seek a more peaceful, democratic, prosperous, and European future,” Kerry said in a statement congratulating Ukrainians on behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States.
According to the press service Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, in his congratulations Obama praised friendship with the Ukrainian people and pledged support at all times.
On Sunday, August 24, Ukraine marks 23 years of independence.
