MOSCOW, August 19 (RIA Novosti) - The 42nd President of the United States Bill Clinton turns 68 on Tuesday.

According to US media reports, the politician had an early birthday celebration Saturday while on vacation in the Hamptons off the coast of New York with his wife Hillary, their daughter Chelsea and her husband. They dined with a group of people at a local restaurant.

For the ex-president's birthday, The Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation released a video with Kevin Spacey playing Clinton, who calls Hillary to discuss baby names for Chelsea's future child. The video went viral hours within hours of its online release.

Clinton served as US president between 1993 and 2001. He was the third-youngest person ever to hold the post, as he headed the White House at the age of 46.

Clinton became known as a New Democrat, adopting an ideologically centrist position and enacting welfare and tax reforms to benefit the working poor and middle class. He was a strong supporter of NATO expansion, and led NATO's military operation for Kosovo’s independence.

The former president is also known for his involvement in several scandals, including his 1998 impeachment over a sexual scandal with White House intern Monica Lewinsky. He was later acquitted and finished his second term. He left the post with the highest approval rating for a post-war US president, thanks to higher living standards, lower crime and a better environmental situation in the country compared to before he stepped in.

An Arkansas native, Clinton takes an active part in global warming causes, and has helped in natural disaster recovery efforts, including after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and the Haiti earthquake in 2010. He also participates in health care issues and the anti-AIDS campaign.

Clinton supported his wife Hillary in her political carrier. Hillary Clinton served as US secretary of state between 2009 and 2013, and is widely anticipated to run for the presidency in 2016.
