MOSCOW, August 5 (RIA Novosti) – The film crew of Ukrainian news agency Anna-News came under fire in Luhansk, a cameraman and a driver received wounds, according to the video issued on agency’s website Tuesday.

“There was an explosion behind the car, approximately four or five meters from us. The car protected people who were standing at the bus stops, there were women, elderly people, children. So the shell fragments hit the car and three of them wounded me,” the driver said in the video.

According to the injured, the film crew went to the scene of a shelling conducted by Ukrainian government forces earlier Monday.

The driver received an injury to his upper back, while cameraman Mikhail Andreev was wounded to his right arm. Both wounds are said to be light.

This was not the first tragic incident that happened with media workers in Ukraine. Earlier in July, a Polish national Bianka Zalewska, who worked as a correspondent for Ukrainian Espreso TV channel, was wounded in the combat zone. In June, a cameraman for Russia’s Channel-1 TV station, Anatoly Klyan sustained a stomach wound in an attack by the Ukrainian Special Forces and died as he was being rushed to the hospital. Earlier, two employees of Russia’s state-run VGTRK media holding, reporter Igor Kornelyuk and sound engineer Anton Voloshin lost their lives in a mortar attack near the Ukrainian city of Luhansk. Late May, Russian human rights activist Andrei Mironov and Italian photojournalist Andrea Rocchelli died near the city of Slaviansk. Russian news teams had also been repeatedly detained by Ukrainian troops and banned entry to the country.
