MOSCOW, July 18 (RIA Novosti) – Malaysia Airlines is sending a group of representatives to Ukraine to investigate the crash of a Boeing-777 and plans on contacting the independence supporters in eastern Ukraine, the company’s press center told RIA Novosti by phone on Friday.
“Today, Malaysia Airlines is sending its representatives to Ukraine to investigate the Boeing-777 plane crash,” a press center employee said.
Asked if the company plans on contacting the independence supporters to get more information on the tragedy, the employee said “yes.”
A Malaysia Airlines Boeing-777 flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed near the town of Torez in the Donetsk Region on Thursday. There were 283 passengers and 15 crew members on board.
According to Ukraine’s state-run air traffic operator Ukraerorukh, leading international experts will be engaged to investigate the accident.
Earlier in the day, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak announced that the country was dispatching a special flight to Kiev carrying a team of medical experts and a Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team to help investigate the circumstances of the crash.
Prime Minister Najib stressed in a telephone conversation with US President Barack Obama earlier on Friday that an international team should have full access to the accident site and that “no one should interfere with the area, or move any debris, including the black box.”
