World-famous Russian clown Slava Polunin has brought his prize-winning stage production “Slava’s Snowshow” to sub-tropical Miami, according to an official announcement and local media reports.

WASHINGTON, Aug 5 (RIA Novosti) –World-famous Russian clown Slava Polunin has brought his prize-winning stage production “Slava’s Snowshow” to sub-tropical Miami, according to an official announcement and local media reports.

The wordless “Snowshow” draws upon multiple clown and mime traditions and even simulates a blizzard that leaves its audience ankle deep in snow.

Although he is credited with staging the Miami run, Polunin will not perform, having ceded his role to eight performers including his son, Vanya Polunin, the Miami Herald reported Friday.

Polunin debuted “Slava’s Snowshow” in 1993 after an illustrious career in the former Soviet Union which saw him become one of the most famous circus performers in a country where clowns could become famous movie stars and singers.

Earlier this year Polunin returned to Russia to act as Artistic Director of The Bolshoi Saint Petersburg State Circus, the oldest in Russia.

Slava’s Snowshow will run at the Ziff Ballet Opera House at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami until Aug 25.
