The Russian-Kazakh director of the movies “Night Watch” and “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,” Timur Bekmambetov, will team up with a former Paramount executive to produce a Russian filmmaker’s directorial debut.

WASHINGTON, July 12 (RIA Novosti) – The Russian-Kazakh director of the movies “Night Watch” and “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,” Timur Bekmambetov, will team up with a former Paramount executive to produce a Russian filmmaker’s directorial debut, the entertainment news website The Wrap reported.

“Hardcore” will be directed by Ilya Naishuller from his own script. Naishuller, lead singer of the Russian punk band “Biting Elbows,” won global attention after directing a music video for his band, which has racked up more than 15 million views on Youtube since it was posted in March. The video won praise from acclaimed director Darren Aaronofsky, The Wrap reported Thursday.

“Hardcore,” an action movie with science fiction elements will be shot in Moscow, and co-produced by Bekmambetov, Katia Konenenko and Inga Vainshtein, formerly VP of Production at Paramount and Simpson & Bruckheimer, where she oversaw films such as the original “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” “Sliver” and “The Crow,” according to the IMDB website.
