MOSCOW, April 28 (RIA Novosti) - A new coalition government is expected to be sworn in in Italy Sunday, media reported Saturday.

The ceremony will be held at 11:30 (09:30 GMT) at the presidential palace in Rome, the BBC reported.

It will break a long political stalemate since February’s general election that left the country without an effective government.

The coalition consists of Enrico Letta's Democratic Party (PD) and former premier Silvio Berlusconi’s People of Freedom party (PDL), according to the British broadcaster that quoted President Giorgio Napolitano as saying it was the “only possible government.”

Center-left Letta is to become the new prime minister.

Berlusconi earlier said he would not occupy a ministerial post. But one of Berlusconi’s closest political allies, Angelino Alfano from PDL, will hold the posts of a deputy prime minister and interior minister.
