Two passenger aircraft were grounded and searched at the JFK airport in New York after an anonymous telephone call about explosives and hijackers on board of the jets, CNN reported on Tuesday.
The agency said citing a law enforcement source that the inbound aircraft were an American Airlines flight from San Francisco and a FinnAir flight from Helsinki.
“The jets were steered to an isolated area of the tarmac and met by authorities upon landing,” CNN reported citing Transportation Security Administration spokeswoman Sterling Payne as saying.
Officers from the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) searched both aircraft and after finding nothing suspicious issued an all-clear for the jets. Pilots also said they noticed nothing suspicious during the flights.
