A Kharkiv court on Tuesday postponed the review of a second criminal case against imprisoned opposition leader and former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, due to her inability to appear at the trial.

Tymoshenko, who was sentenced to seven years in prison last October for exceeding her authority in negotiating a 2009 natural gas agreement with Russia, will head back to court on August 14 to face charges that she embezzled around $400 million in the 1990s while serving as the head of energy transporter United Energy Systems of Ukraine.

The former prime minister, who has been jailed since last August, has suffered from a spate of health problems since being imprisoned. Her lawyers and critics of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich have blamed her health issues on poor prison conditions and, in some cases, physical abuse by the authorities, which they deny.
