Syrian opposition on Saturday announced that 110 people died as a result of shelling peaceful settlements, CNN reported quoting Local Coordination Committees.

Government forces targeted the regions of Aleppo, Hama, Homs and other settlements three days before a deadline for government forces to withdraw from cities.

According to opposition, government forces attacked villages and farms. Many homes in the attacked areas are destroyed; the residents many of whom are wounded forced to seek shelters.

More than 9,000 people have been killed in Syria since the breakout of a popular uprising against Assad in March 2011, the UN has estimated. The Syrian authorities blame the unrest on “armed terrorist gangs” affiliated with al-Qaeda.
