    Russia's First Lady Svetlana Medvedev will attend on Sunday the opening of the first Russian culture and arts center in Italy.

    Russia's First Lady Svetlana Medvedev will attend on Sunday the opening of the first Russian culture and arts center in Italy.

    The center is located on the campus of Ca' Foscari University in Venice.

    The first lady said in February that the center "will be an outpost of Russian culture in a city linked with such iconic Russian names as Igor Stravinsky and Josef Brodsky."

    Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi on February 16 officially opened the Year of Russian Culture and Language in Italy and Year of Italian Culture and Language in Russia.

    This large cultural project will include exchange of exhibitions, theatre festivals, concerts, and other events throughout 2011.
