At least 72 people were killed and 35 injured in an Iranian plane crash in the country's north-west, the BBC reported on Monday.
The Iranian Airlines jet heading from Tehran crashed near the city of Urumiyeh early on Sunday. Various reports put the number of passengers on board the plane at 95, 105 and 156.
CNN said a total of 33 people were injured in the crash.
Iran's Emergencies Ministry has confirmed that 50 passengers were rescued from the wreckage. The agency also reported that the aircraft was a Dutch-made Fokker-100, while Mehrnews reported the plane was a Boeing-727.
Bed weather at the site of the crash has hampered rescue operations, local officials were quoted by media reports as saying.
