French President Nicolas Sarkozy will attend the opening of the Expo 2010 fair during his visit to China in the end of April, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said on Thursday.
The official visit of the French president, who was invited by Chinese president Hu Jintao, will begin on April 28 and will last for several days.
"We hope the forthcoming visit will advance bilateral relations," the spokeswoman said, adding that Sarkozy would hold negotiations with the Chinese leadership, including Hu.
The 2010 World Expo fair is to run from May 1 to October 31 under the motto "Better City - Better Life." Some 70 million visitors are expected to attend the event. The spokeswoman said leaders of all countries are invited to attend.
