The Czech energy company CEZ has launched the construction of the country's largest solar power plant with a capacity of 30 MW, Czech Radio reported.
The solar power plant will be built on an area of 60 hectares near the city of Ceske Budejovice in the country's south. CEZ, Europe's largest energy company, is expected to finish the solar power plant's construction in twelve months, Czech Radio reported.
The power plant's solar panels will cover an area equivalent to 80 football fields, Czech Radio said.
The solar power plant project is related to CEZ's obligations to invest 30 billion Czech korunas (about $1.7 billion) in the creation of renewable energy sources in the country by 2020.
