A 27-year-old man died in a Georgian hospital after he was diagnosed with A/H1N1 virus, becoming the first citizen of the former Soviet state to die of swine flu, the health minister said.
Alexander Kvitashvili said the man was hospitalized in Batumi three days ago in a very critical health condition.
He added that as of Saturday there are 530 registered cases of swine flu in Georgia.
The deadly virus has been registered in 208 countries. This week, the first swine flu deaths were registered in North Korea, Austria, Lithuania, Latvia, and the United Arab Emirates.
