BERLIN, September 22 (RIA Novosti) - At least 15 people died and eight were injured east of Duesseldorf in western Germany when a bus came off the road and crashed down an embankment, German TV reported, citing local police.

"According to preliminary information, the bus was moving at high speed and did not negotiate the corner. It broke through the crash barrier fencing off the drop, flew for around four meters and got stuck in some dense bushes, having overturned onto its roof," a police officer said.

According to police, the death toll could rise, as some passengers may have fallen into the river or be trapped under the bus.

According to the latest information, three children are among the victims.

Police and emergency workers, including divers, are working at the scene.
