MOSCOW, August 27 (RIA Novosti) - Hungary will extradite to Moscow on Wednesday a Russian national suspected of leading a gang involved in numerous murders and other crimes, a spokesman for the Interpol's National Central Bureau said.

Prosecutors said Valery Burykin participated in setting up a criminal group between 1995 and 2000 in St. Petersburg. The group has been accused of murder, and other serious crimes, including an attempt to take control of the city's morgues.

"The suspect was put on the international wanted list in October 2007 and detained that month at the Austrian-Hungarian border," the Interpol's National Central Bureau at the Russian Interior Ministry said in a statement.

The extradition procedures, which were due to be launched in April this year, were postponed after Burykin asked Hungarian authorities to grant him refugee status. His appeal was rejected in July.
