TEL AVIV, February 6 (RIA Novosti) - Palestinian militants fired a rocket at a southern Israeli community on Wednesday, injuring two girls, local medics said.

The rocket landed in a kindergarten playground at Kibbutz Be'eri in the western Negev, slightly injuring two sisters aged two and four with shrapnel. The children were taken to hospital together with their mother, who was suffering with shock.

Palestinian militants have fired approximately 40 rockets at border areas, including the towns of Sderot and Ashkelon since Tuesday. On Wednesday, four people, including a 14 year-old teenager were injured when a rocket hit a house in Sderot.

Israeli airstrikes have killed nine militants of Hamas's armed wings in the past 24 hours.
