ISLAMABAD, April 3 (RIA Novosti) - An earthquake measuring six on the Richter scale hit Pakistan Tuesday morning, the country's meteorological service said.
Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and the country's northern and northwestern areas reported tremors. No damage or casualties have been reported so far because the quake was centered on the country's inaccessible mountainous areas, the service said.
The media said that earthquakes had also been reported in Afghanistan, India and a number of South Asian countries.
Up to 80,000 people were killed in a powerful earthquake that shook Pakistan in October 2005.
