WASHINGTON, March 1 (RIA Novosti) - U.S. Vice President Richard Cheney and other senior officials will meet with Yulia Tymoshenko, a Ukrainian opposition leader, later this week, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported Thursday.

Tymoshenko, on a three-day visit to the U.S. since Wednesday, is also to meet with U.S. National Security Advisor Steven Hadley, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and former State Secretary Madeleine Albright.

"I would like to thank the U.S. government for such a warm welcome," Tymoshenko said, speaking at the Washington Center for Strategic and International Studies, where she presented her party priorities.

In her speech, she also criticized the policy of the Ukrainian government led by Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych, in particular its energy policy.

She said Yanukovych's plans to create a common economic space between Ukraine and Russia are a "restoration of the former Soviet Union."
