MOSCOW, November 3 (RIA Novosti) - The health of Cuban President Fidel Castro, hospitalized four months ago, is improving, the head of the Caribbean country's parliament said Friday during his visit to Moscow.

Ricardo Alarcon, the president of the National Assembly of Cuba, told Russia's lower house of parliament that Castro's treatment is progressing "very positively."

The socialist leader, who has ruled the country for almost half a century, is recovering, and "this process is progressing so that each day he gets more involved in his work, and constantly keeps track of international issues."

Alarcon said he would convey to Castro the interest towards Cuba expressed by Russia's lawmakers.

In his address to State Duma deputies, Alarcon is expected to discuss the United States' economic blockade of Cuba.

The Cuban official, widely considered a possible successor to Fidel Castro, is currently visiting Russia on an invitation from Duma Speaker Boris Gryzlov.

On Thursday he met with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov and discussed the implementation of bilateral agreements reached during the premier's visit to Cuba in September.

Fradkov thanked the Cuban government for their support in building a Russian Orthodox church, in a central district of Havana, and for providing all necessary construction materials.
