KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, May 15 (RIA Novosti) - A Malaysian company is going stellar in its search for automobile innovation by using meteorites to decorate exclusive cars.

Jaafar Jamaluddin, the chief executive of Jejak Juta, said Monday that cars represented a new departure for the company, which has been buying meteorites for many years for use in interior design as well as in school and university collections.

The idea of using the 4-billion-year-old space rocks for car panels and saloons appeared relatively recently, he said, but the company has already inked an agreement with a foreign auto major to produce one-off radio tuners.

But uniqueness comes at a price, and the few cosmic cars to be produced will be out of the price range of most customers, he said, adding that the first example will go on the market in the next few years.

Jamaluddin said interest in meteorites and other celestial objects was growing, which he said was possibly due to sci-fi movies that have been recent box office smashes in Malaysia and neighboring countries.
