TBILISI, December 21 (RIA Novosti, Marina Kvaratskhelia) - More than 50 Georgian communists gathered Wednesday near the Joseph Stalin Museum in the town of Gori, the administrative center of Georgia's Shida-Kartli Region that borders on South Ossetia, to celebrate the controversial Communist leader's birthday, a local official said.

Joseph Stalin (Dzhugashvili), born on December 21, 1879, was the leader of the Soviet Union, ruling the country with an "iron fist" from the mid-1920s to his death in 1953.
