TEHRAN, November 12 (RIA Novosti) - The chief of Iran's National Security Council said at a news conference Saturday that the Islamic Republic was ready to develop comprehensive cooperation with Russia.
Speaking after a meeting with Russia's Security Council Secretary Igor Ivanov, who is currently on a visit to Tehran, Ali Larijani said "the good-neighborly relations between Russia and Iran rest on a firm foundation, enabling them to advance bilateral cooperation."
He also stressed the need for further consultations with Russia in the nuclear sphere.
Igor Ivanov arrived in Tehran on Friday. He is to meet with a number of high-ranking Iranian officials to discuss the Iranian nuclear problem and bilateral cooperation.
