KIEV, November 12 (RIA Novosti, Taras Burnos) - Participants in the Second Congress of the People's Union Our Ukraine, a pro-presidential party, proposed changes in the composition of the Union's Political Council Saturday.
President Viktor Yushchenko, who is attending the congress, backed the proposal.
According to some party members, high-level officials whose names figure in the latest anticorruption probes are "a disgrace to the party's reputation." The names of former Security Council Secretary Petro Poroshenko, former presidential aide Olexander Tretyakov, and former Minister Yevhen Chervnenko were cited in this context.
The congress is to approve the top 10 names on the party's election list. Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov is expected to head the list.
