MOSCOW, July 7 (RIA Novosti, Cristina Rodriguez) - A senior Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe official said the saga around the embattled Yukos oil major had not influenced experienced investors.
Kimmo Sasi, the PACE rapporteur on the economic situation in Russia, said the Yukos affair had scared inexperienced investors, but their experienced counterparts had stayed in Russia. He added that the saga had had wide reverberations in the West owing to the media coverage it had received.
Sasi said that this was not the key issue, but that it could have a psychological effect on those beginning to invest in Russia.
However, Sasi said he would include the Yukos affair in his report to be delivered in Strasbourg in June 2006.
