TEHRAN, July 5 (RIA Novosti, Nikolai Terekhov) - The Russian Audit Chamber and the Iranian Supreme Audit Court will jointly control the supplies and the financing of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant's first power unit, the head of the Russian body said Tuesday. "Today we have once again confirmed that the Russian Audit Chamber and the Iranian Supreme Audit Court will control the financing of the Bushehr NPP," Sergei Stepashin, the head of the Russian Audit Chamber, said.
"This will be the part of the joint audits in parallel we have planned," he added.
Speaking about the results of the negotiations in the capital of Iran Stepashin said he had formed a clear opinion that Iran was extremely interested in developing friendly relations with Russia. "Almost every senior Iranian official repeated that Russia was a friendly country for Iran, and the development of bilateral economic and other relations was a priority for the Iranian government," Stepashin said.
Stepashin met with Dr. Mohammad Reza Rahimi, the chairman of the Iranian Supreme Audit Court, Gholam Ali Haddad Adel, the speaker of the Iranian Parliament and other top officials. A memorandum on cooperation between the Russian Audit Chamber and the Iranian Supreme Audit Court was signed.
Stepashin is also expected to meet with Gholam Reza Agazadeh, Iran's vice president and the chairman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran. The officials plan to discuss the results of Stepashin's visit to Bushehr plant on Tuesday and prospects for developing Russian-Iranian cooperation in the field of peaceful nuclear energy.
