KIEV, June 27 (RIA Novosti, Taras Burnos) - Ukraine may join NATO peacekeeping operations in Sudan's Darfur province and Afghanistan, NATO's Secretary General said at a news conference in Kiev Monday.

It is possible if Ukraine has a UN mandate at the technical cooperation level, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said.

Ukraine could supply military hardware and aircraft to NATO peacekeepers in hot spots, he said.

He said if Ukraine's parliament, the Supreme Rada, passes a bill allowing for the supplies to NATO, the alliance will allow Ukraine's participation.

Ukraine could help ensure communications in Afghanistan, Scheffer said.
