Russian Finance Minister speaks about situation in oil industry at G8 finance ministers' meeting in London

MOSCOW, June 11 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin will make a report on the situation in the Russian oil industry at the meeting of G8 finance ministers in London on Saturday, a press release posted on the official web site of the finance ministry says. The Saturday agenda includes a working breakfast of the G8 finance ministers with their colleagues from India, Brazil, South Africa and China. During breakfast the participants will discuss the major trends in global economy and the preparation for the UN Millennium Plus Five Summit in September 2005.

On the same day, the G8 finance club, in its general composition, will continue the discussion of the problems in the sphere of energy and oil industry and the issues related to the fight against terrorist financing and money laundering.

The meeting of the G8 finance ministers is part of the preparation for the G8 summit in Gleneagles (Scotland) on July 6-8, 2005.

G8 members include Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Canada, Russia, the U.S., France and Japan.

At the conclusion of the two-day summit, the participants plan to organize a press conference at the Queen Elizabeth II Center in London.

Separate meetings of finance ministers and foreign ministers on the eve of the G8 summit were held, for the first time, during the previous British presidency in the G8 in 1998.
