The International Skating Union's (ISU) disciplinary committee has declined a protest of the South Korean Skating Union (KSU) and the South Korean Olympic Committee (KOC) against the results of the ladies' singles Olympic competition at Sochi-2014 in which Russian Adelina Sotnikova won the first place and a gold medal for the first time for Russia in this programme. The winner of Vancouver-2010 South Korean Yuna Kim got the second result this time.


About 250 observers engaged in preparing the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, attended the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, and lauded the way the Sochi Games had been organized, President of the Pyongchang-2018 Committee Kim Jin-sun told the ITAR-TASS news agency.

The 11th Winter Paralympics have drawn to a close. The closing ceremony was held at the Fisht Olympic Stadium in Adler, near Sochi, on March 16th . Team Russia has beaten their own previous world record in the number of medals grabbed during Paralympics by the athletes of one country. Austrians won 70 medals in the 1984 Paralympics in Innsbruck. Team Russia won 80 medals during the Sochi Paralympics, specifically 30 gold medals, 28 silver medals and 22 bronze medals. Russia is followed by Germany with 15 medals, including 9 gold medals.

Russia's Anna Milenina took her second gold medal at the Sochi Paralympic Games on Sunday, winning the women's 5km standing cross-country ski race.

When athletes reach the Paralympics, they are seen as not just champions but also as role models to all kinds of people. If they could train as hard as they did, then others can do it as well. It is very likely that past and present Paralympians will  pay it forward by helping others lose weight, gain confidence, and reach their goals in life.

Nine sets of medals in cross-country skiing and alpine skiing will be at stake on the last day of the Sochi Paralympic Games, and after the final competitions end Sochi will see a spectacular closing ceremony.
