Human creativity has no limits. It adapts to the environment we live in and gives us the modern diversity and inventions.This week we are going todelve into DIY. The do it yourself movement, as they call it today.I see DIY as a movement of arts and crafts and beyond. Or as wikipedia puts its traditional meaning: is building, modifying, or repairing something without the aid of experts or professionals. The DIY phraze was coined in the 1950s in the States, usually relating to home improvement. But DIY is growing beyond this remodeling aspect of it. Today the concept of DIY is embraced all over the world, because making something with your own hands is a novelty today, in our highly material world. Russia has a rich tradition of DIY. And we will find out what amazing and extraordinary DIY projects there are on this side of the world, from optical toys to an amphibian car. In the Soviet Union craft projects were very popular. And today in this consumer society, where almost everything is mass-produced, there is a certain romanticism in DIY, a way to remember and bring back the hand-made the unique material, and the creative process.
