Pro-federalization activists rally outside authority buildings in Ukraine's Kramatorsk

Pro-federalization activists seized the building of the national security service and blocked access to a police department and a road to an airport in eastern Ukraine’s Kramatorsk Monday, RIA reports.

"According to our information, armed squadrons may come and try to seize the city. Our task is to stop them from doing this," said a member of the self-defense forces.

Some 300 people have gathered outside the buildings, waving the flags of Russia and the Donetsk People's Republic, a self-proclaimed state declared on April 7 by the pro-federalization protesters.

Federalists continue controlling the building of a city council in Kramatorsk and a road linking the city with neighboring Slavyansk, which has become a flashpoint for tensions between Ukraine’s rival camps.

Earlier Monday, hundreds of pro-federalization activists rallied outside the regional administration building in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk.
