Japanese fighters accompany two Russian bombers during patrol mission

Two Russian Tupolev Tu-95MS strategic bombers have successfully completed an air patrol, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"The flight itinerary was to pass through the neutral waters over the Pacific, the Sea of Okhotsk, along the Islands of Japan and the Sakhalin Island.When over international waters the Tu-95MS aircraft were accompanied by F15J and F2 fighters of the Japan Self-Defense Forces' Air Force," Russian Air Forces spokesman Col. Igor Klimov told Interfax-AVN on Tuesday.

The bombers took off from Ukrainka Air Base in the Amur region, he said.

"The flight length was over nine hours," Klimov said.
