Merkel to go on crutches in weeks to come

German Chancellor Angela Merkel will have to go on crutches in the weeks to come, AP reports citing Merkel’s spokesperson, Steffen Seibert.

However, the German leader is said to be ready for a more intense schedule.

According to Seibert, next week the Chancellor has two public speeches scheduled, which she will attend but will speak sitting.

Merkel got her injury skiing during the Christmas holidays. Due to the injury she had to cancel a series of top-level meetings.

On January 6, Angela Merkel was reported to have fallen down while she was skiing. The incident occurred in Switzerland before the New Year, but only during a medical exam, which took place after she came back to Berlin on January 3, the German leader learned how serious her injury was.

At first, Merkel believed it was just a contusion but an X-ray showed she had a fracture on the left, rear part of the pelvis.
