The danger of "color revolutions" is amongst the top threats to member countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha said on Thursday.

He addressed the audience at a roundtable on the deterrence of attempts of revolutionary changes of administration.

"In the opinion of experts from CSTO member countries, the danger of "color revolutions" ranks top amongst the non-traditional challenges, threats and risks to CSTO collective security," Bordyuzha said. In fact, such revolutions are peculiar models of coups staged with the use of instruments of information, communication, moral and psychological influence and accompanied with gross violations of international legal norms.

"Color revolution masterminds frequently gain information support from the outside with the purpose of legitimization of their actions," the CSTO secretary general said.
