Vietnamese babysitters arrested for child abuse
The arrest came after a video clip posted online appeared to show the two babysitters - who worked at an unauthorised kindergarten - abusing children in their care.
The women in the clip were shown beating them, strangling them and holding them upside down over a barrel of water, threatening to drop them into it.
Police said the two women admitted the abuse, but said in their defence that they only did it when the children refused to be fed, ate and drank slowly, or vomited.
The kindergarten admitted children aged 10 months to 4 years for a monthly fee of 48-58 dollars, and had been fined several times in the past, police said.
It looked after 22 children before being ordered to close on Tuesday.
Local media have recently reported several cases of violence against children. Last month, police arrested an 18-year-old babysitter in Ho Chi Minh City for killing a baby by stamping on him.
