Eight Jehovah’s Witnesses murdered in Mexico

Unknown assassins breaking into a house in Ciudad Juarez in northern Mexico have killed execution-style eight members of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, six adults and two children. Another child is in hospital with serious knife wounds. A two-month-old girl is missing.

All ten people were members of the same family.

Police say they suspect another instance of turf war between rival drug gangs.

Ciudad Juarez is a city of about 800,000 people. In 2010, it lost 3,100 to crime, winning it a dubious distinction of the world’s murder capital in per capita terms.

Today’s world murder capital is San Pedro Sula in Honduras.
