Venezuelan opposition leader Henrique Capriles has asked Pope Francis to help promote dialogue between the opposition and the government.

In a letter sent to the Vatican, Capriles complains about alleged violation of fundamental human rights in his country and asks the Pontiff to bring the matter to the attention of the Venezuelan authorities.

The letter was published just two days before the Pope’s planned meeting with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
