Next year a unique intergovernmental project will be launched on the Eurasian territory, which involves the highest degree of integration over the last quarter of a century. We are talking about the Eurasian Economic Union between Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, which will be open for new participants. Given the shift of the focus of the global economy to the East Russia intends to become more active in the Asia-Pacific Region, which is turning into the center of the global economic growth. According to some experts, the Eurasian integration today allows one to assume that various Western alliances are getting very serious competitors.
Is Europe waking up in its assessment of the Ukrainian events? One should hope so. Surprising were the actions of Rome’s residents who took part in the manifestation against the distortion of the information on the situation in Ukraine by the European mass media. That was no ordinary, but rather a sensational event. Hundreds of people demanded the truth: who are they, the people of Maidan who threw out the legally elected president and are spreading death in the East of the country? What drives them and who is behind them?
The Ukrainian press and experts in Kiev are accusing Moscow of supporting the so-called separatists in the east of the country due to the alleged presence of shale gas in that region, which Russia wants to develop.
Color revolutions result in permanent instability, poverty through promise of democracy and prosperity
Even if they won't be celebrating a total victory, right wing parties will for sure improve their standing in the May 25 elections to the European Parliament. The reason lies in the fact that Europeans are afraid of losing their national identity. And then we might see a slightly different Europe as a result.
The relations between the Council of Europe that is turning 65 and Russia, which joined it in 1996, have always been complicated. The Russia-Georgia conflict, the human rights issue, the notorious Yukos case and the current crisis in Ukraine have not added trust between the parties. In a nutshell, the problem is that Europeans tend to have a one-sided, perfectly biased view of the above-mentioned issues.
The Council of Europe, which is an international organization promoting co-operation between all countries of Europe in the areas of legal standards and democratiс development, was established 65 years ago with active participation of British PM Winton Churchill.
The United States and Europe are looking for new tools to press Russia over Ukraine. The West claims that the Kremlin has actively intervened in Ukraine and by doing so allegedly provoked an acute crisis fraught with all-out civil war.
Victoria Nuland, the US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, in her interview to CNN admitted once again that since 1991 Washington had invested in Ukraine five billion USD. That was called assistance to develop democracy in the country, which as a result of such significant investment found itself on the brink of breakup and a complete political and economic collapse.
Complete absence of corruption and energy independence of Russia. Ideal observance of democratic freedoms and human rights. Honest authorities and a happy society of true Europeans grateful to the USA for every moment of its life. This is the illusion that American strategists continue to present to the Ukrainians in hopes that their country gives up what's left of its independence in choosing its historic path. In reality it will turn out to be a deep disappointment of the Ukrainian people in the seeming kindness and unselfishness of Uncle Sam and its ability to help out of his good nature.
Ukrainian crisis: It is impossible to build a state based on strictly nationalist criteria - political analyst
Western policymakers can implement the Maidan strategy, used in Kiev, in Moldova. They are pursuing quite an obvious goal – to pull the traditionally friendly partner away from Russia. The activity of foreign NGOs, the information and political support and a number of issued preferences show how serious Brussels and Washington are as far as the young Moldavian state goes.
"Maidan" is the trend of the latest political season developed with the direct participation of the West. Opposition leaders in other post-Soviet countries as well as their Western sponsors are already picking up the methods used by the latest Ukrainian revolution.
Russia can cut down its cooperation with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe after the decision to deprive the Russian delegation of the right to vote and to work in its governing structures. These are the results of the PACE session, which took place on April 10 in Strasbourg. Many Russian politicians and experts have long said that Russia's participation in the work of the Assembly, which is professionally specializing in anti-Russian declarations and resolutions, had a minimum of meaning and prospects.
The higher is the tension of the protests in Eastern Ukraine the more clearly one can see that the country can be preserved in its current borders only under the condition of federalization. In other words, it requires giving a wide range of authority to the regions.
As it appears, "two Ukraines" - south-eastern Ukraine and western Ukraine - have the last chance to continue their joint trip in history. What is meant here is the federalization of yet a single state on the basis of respect for each other and broad powers, which should be granted to all regions. Let’s take as an example the Lvov Oblast to understand the difference existing between the western Ukrainians and the residents of the south - east of Ukraine.
Donetsk as the capital of Ukraine's main industrial region, Donbass, is at the frontline of the protest. The residents of that pro-Russian region demand a referendum on the status of Donetsk Region in the face of the sharp rise of neo-fascist moods and actions.
The latest events in Ukraine clearly show that Russian speaking population as well as the Ukrainian population has no intention to accept the neo-fascism imported there from the West of the country, including Ivano-Frankovsk region. It appears that federalization is the only way out of the political and philosophical crisis when on the territory of one state there exist two Ukraines.
According to some reports, the number of the Syrian civil war victims has exceeded 200,000, with civilians, including children, accounting for a third of the death toll. The UN claims the number of refugees is approaching three million. The dreadful figures will keep growing unless the international community takes extraordinary measures to end the bloodshed.
The inefficiency of the US betting on the monopolar setup and the global hegemony is best demonstrated on the example of Latin America. As in many other parts of the world, Washington's aggressive policy in that region that did not tolerate any deviation set even its closest neighbors against it.
