Eight sets of medals will be at stake at the 2014 Sochi Olympics on Sunday for athletes competing in biathlon, alpine skiing, cross country skiing, ski jumping, luge, speed skating, snowboard and figure skating. Russian athletes have good chances of winning medals in team figure skating, women biathlon sprint, men's skiathlon and in luge singles.

    Polish ski jumper Kamil Stoch flew to victory Sunday in the men's individual normal hill competition at the Sochi Olympics. Stoch, the world champion, posted both of the two biggest jumps of the night on RusSki Gorki' K95 hill for a winning score of 278 points. Sloveniaa's Peter Prevc sneaked past Norway's Anders Bardal in the final round to snatch the silver medal with 265.3 points, 1.2 more than the Norwegian. In eighth place was 41-year-old Japanese jumper Noriaki Kasai, who is competing at a record seventh Winter Olympics. There was a heart-stopping moment in the first round when German's Severin Freund, widely tipped as a medal contender, crashed on landing and rolled down the slope. He was unhurt.

    Russian ice dancers Elena Ilyinykh and Nikita Tasalapov won third position in team ice dance free dance at the Olympic Games in Sochi on Sunday. The Russian ice dancers scored 103.48, yielding to Meryl Davis and Charlie White of the United States (114.34) and Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir of Canada (107.56). Thus, the Russian team has won the gold medal in team figure skating tournament. The Canadian team id second, and the US team is third.
